Pictures still forthcoming

We've settled in!

That means that soon - or as soon as I or JD have the time and energy concurrently to clean the house we will have pictures!

Also i need SUGGESTIONS! We have a space on our wall in the dining area that is blank. It's a wall space. From Left to Right the wall has a set of shadowboxes (2, stacked above each other) with items from South America inside, a rectangular pic of Christ, and then NOTHING! it's lopsided.

Help!
I really am at a loss, so the best suggestion will WIN and make its appearance in our condo.

I don't mind rearranging the other stuff on the wall either. I'd post a picture of what it currently is like, but that would reveal how messy the table is... so please visualize a nice clean space with the above decor =D

Bad car karma!

So as many of you know, Lianna got in an accident. Well, its final. The car was totaled. Yeah, that's how hard she got hit. But luckily since Honda rocks our socks off (look, no socks), Lianna came out of it relatively uninjured. Sore, yes, but nothing too major.

Our car though, has had a rough time. First, it got in an accident. Bad news at Blackrock for the Good guys. Anyway, because my wife is so sweet, she was more worried about keeping the lady that hit her from going into shock to get her insurance info. After that, Lianna never got a chance to get it (between the police talking to the lady and the paramedics tending to the lady's injuries.) So we had to wait a week and a half for the stupid police report to get the ball rolling.

It finally came, and when I called the insurance company listed on the accident report and gave them the info, they said, "Im sorry, but that's no where near one of our policy numbers. They gave you the wrong insurance company." SERIOUSLY? I know right. Lame. Anyway, Liberty Mutual (the one listed on the report) was very helpful at giving me all possible insurance companies with the name Liberty in it. Finally after calling around, I got lucky and found it.

Then, while our car is sitting in the lot of crashed cars, another van from the business next door wasn't put in park, and rolled into our car, smashing the door. OMgoodness. For real? Anyway, the insurance company appraising our car said they had to deduct the damage from their total cost because it was "pre-existing," even though they knew full well that it had happened after the accident.

Anyway, hopefully this will all be over soon. I think I can see the end! On good news, we are 99% moved into our condo! Pictures forthcoming.

".. like I've been hit by a truck"

Yesterday morning I was stopped at a stoplight when suddenly I wasn't stopped at it any longer. When I got out of my wrecked car, I found that the woman driving the turqois pickup behind me (now about 50 yards behind me) was hysterical. I felt fine. For a couple of hours.

How do I feel today?
Like I've been hit by a truck.

Also, I feel like an idiot. There should be a manual that they give to you with a car called auto accidents for dummies with step-by-step information on what to do immediately afterwards.

It would include information that somehow didn't surface on my mind like:
1. Call 911 and report it
2. Get other party's information
3. get paramedics to tell you you are ok, don't just assume because there's a reason movies show men shoot up with adrenaline and then run four miles carrying hundreds of pounds while their limbs fall off.
Thank goodness there were witnesses to take care of the first of those details, because police and paramedics, bless their hearts(and thank goodness for them!), can't do their jobs if they're not called! Luckily I am actually just fine, just sore and stiff. The other woman needed attention very badly - no blood, but lots of shock and probably bad whiplash.

Moral of the story? Have insurance that will cover you well. It's worth the price if you are a safe driver because you can't control the actions of others.
Oh, and, I'm going to keep a list of things to do in my car in case I lose my mind again if there is a next time.

refinishing my .... shoulder?

This past week I embarked upon my new pet project - refinishing bedside stands, tables, and a headboard in time to move them into our new place.

I was very enthusiastic, and used my day off (they happen once in a blue moon, and usually I end up doing massage on those days too..) to work out (gotta have the self care!) and to sand and stain some little stands (kudos!)

It was a deadly combination for my shoulder. (doh!) Repetitive motion for a couple of hours after doing a shoulder work out on shoulders that take the heat every day 4-7 hours a day doing massage and other various administrative projects sounds much stupider after the fact than it did before I added all the activities together.
Mental math was never my strong suit.
I had figured out the answer to be SuperStar Woman of the Day .. the real answer was slight shoulder bursitis on a day of 7 hours of deep tissue massage.
I have never been more grateful that my school taught me proper massage body mechanics. My goal is now to remember those mechanics for everything else I do, and to use an electric sander.

Consider me schooled.

there's no place like HOME

I'm too excited to keep it a secret. WE HAVE FOUND A PLACE TO LIVE!

Don't misunderstand. I have been very grateful to live with the Quillens. I have LOVED the company, and the social TV watching, and the plethora of vegetables, and really almost everything about living in the basement of my in-law's house. The only part I haven't enjoyed is, actually, living in the basement. And parking. (pull into driveway, get out, open garage by hand, pull in, leave headlights on, get out, dodge large truck, go turn on garage light, dodge large truck, turn off headlights, close garage door by hand, dodge large truck. It's even more complex when I'm doing chair massage).

But we are moving officially on April 1st (no joke!) and probably moving stuff in before that. It's a cute little 1 bedroom condo w/ pool access, tennis courts, allows pets, new carpets and counter tops. Plus it comes with washer/dryer.

What I am most excited about? Buying shelf liner and putting it into our very own cupboards.
Or refinishing some tables from my grandfather.

jumpercise update

(this is lianna)

Day 7 of p90x:
skipped stretchX since I've laid off for about 4 days
also skipped chest and arms since I had to work out upstairs w/ no pull up bar

did plyometrics. lasted 20 mins/ 55 mins. heart rate: 122
I'm still not sure where the "warm up" ends and the plyo-X starts.

(last time it was 15 min, HR 165)

GOAL: get up to 30 min for each work out (that's about my attention span) but do complete work out by splitting it between 2 days. Also, notice a difference between warming up, and working out.
TARGET HR: Active: 125-130 sustained, resting: 60

Cracker cravings

Do you ever get to about 5 pm.. and realize you have another 2 - 3 hours before you can eat?

I do that fairly often - and when that happens I crave crackers. That is what I'm doing right now, sitting and craving crackers. Melba toasts actually. Yum. Or brownies. Or anything, really.
Starting tomorrow I will pack a snack that isn't a noisy apple.
