Firehouse 2

My in-laws live right by a firehouse and we hear the sirens going quite often, so we decided to make them some cookies and hike up the hill to say thanks. We were lucky enough that J was home, so he drove us there and we all enjoyed our firehouse adventure. K got so excited about making cookies for them - I think it combined 2 of her great obsessions: sugar and firefighters.
I found a great recipe here that is easy for toddlers to help with, and while the cookies were in the oven she cooked me up a storm - "Je Cuisine, Mama"

Uncertain about being in such a tall and official fire truck, Korrali just sat and didn't even try to push buttons - I was worried about that - it is, after all, the real thing.

They had coloring books and hats handy for children's visits - I was impressed.

They were kind enough to give us a mini tour, and K was shy, but was very pleased to be there and it was fun enough that I've decided we should keep on doing that other places we move to- they told us they don't often get thank you's from people who haven't directly benefitted from their help - ie: a victim of fire or other firefighter worthy visits. But I'm sure glad they are there - even if nothing ever happened I'd still be so glad they were right there just waiting to be the help we need. Thank you Fire Department for being there!

We've done that once too and I too was impressed with how hospitable they were with random drop-in guests! I think doing that again needs to be on our summer to-do list. But I don't know if my kids will look quite as cute doing it as yours did:)
