Rock and Roll

It seems to be becoming a yearly tradition for us to go to the Renaissance Fair here in Larkspur. This year we planned ahead a little better for the intense dry heat. Prepped with plenty of cash, water, and sports drinks we entered the fun, and almost immediately crashed at the skychair store. It was just that hot.
Super uber comfy. Korrali is drinking her powerade zero-water combo which she nursed for the entire first half an hour, until it was all gone and we had to refill with plain water.

Claire wasn't so lucky. She was hot and tired and hates nursing anywhere but right next to her crib. We stressed a little about heatstroke on her behalf but thanks to our sprayfan she survived
And fell asleep sucking the nursing cover (I forgot to sunscreen the bottoms of her feet so she was covered with this light cover to protect from sun.) It was so so so hot. Poor girl.

We visited all the shops and watched this really cool show on Raku pottery. Korrali was fascinated by it, and blew my mind to pieces when she sat still for a 10 minute lecture on the guys life while he waited for his pots to heat to the right temperature in the kiln. I could almost hear her brain explode when the paper caught fire and he covered the pot with a metal trashcan. I think she would have stayed all day if he had done them in quick succession.

She also chased the pretzel seller down for a rather dry pretzel off of his huge stick, danced a fun sword dance while her new idol drummed, and tried to follow him to the ends of the earth. This followed, charming the masses.

We also were suckered in to buying this simple yet effective fairy costume. The lady was a marketing genius, calling out directly to her "Princess! Come and see! Here.. try this.. and this.. and this..." Yes.. well played fairy lady.. well played.. They gave out a free baggie of "fairy dust" (glitter) which was promptly thrown all over J as he carried her out of the Fair. This made me giggle. The dress also sheds glitter everywhere, and will fit her for years. Voila. Years. Of. Glitter. Bwahaha.. again I say: Well played, fairy lady.

This outfit is so simple to sew, that I can see us with more of them (for way cheaper than Fair price) in future.

As we left a man dressed as a Rock'n'Roll monk held out a rock and a dinner roll to her and said "Rock, and, Roll" over and over. She still says that from time to time and giggles.
She remembers the oddest things for ever.

How fun! I am so glad you posted about that, as I forgot to ask how it all went. Again, so sad I missed out on being in on all the fun. And yes...fairy lady...very well played!
