Gluten free

After prevarucating and hesitating we finally decided to take the plunge into the world of "but it's just so much work and it probably won't change anything, besides it's expensive."

After all, Sprouts was having a sale.

And I really just couldn't handle the all-day meltdowns and neediness and was ready to just try something.

Also her pediatrician and I were considering OT and that is an even bigger boat to consider jumping on.

Ok so background over, 4 days later and we had a cheerful, helpful child. Until I got lazy and gave her some muffins con the evil protein.
Then ihop didn't have a gluten free option so I threw caution to the wind and gave her half a pancake.

Then I wised up and decided to search my pantry for alternate flours.
Then left the box on the counter while I nursed Claire for 8 minutes.

Then I figured out how to take modest pictures of my completely uninhibited flour child.

You'd think we were a bunch of hippies. And I hope our impromtu friend who sometimes stops by  to play doesnt come over before we are done cleaning up.

Just a couple of beach bums

It rained today, so what did we do? Went surfing. Duh. It waxed very authentic- one of us knew all the moves and the other of us had all the right gear. Coincidentally, we made plate lunch for dinner last night.  It is making me very homesick for the islands.

Mother's day

Today I am so grateful for these little ones. There are many challenges to being a mother, but every day I am so glad that my girls loving each other is not one of those challenges. They bring out the best in each other and that brings out the best in me. Thanks to my girls for making me a better person. And thanks to my amazing husband for helping me rise to the challenge of being a mom every day.

Look, aliens replaced my life

And I actually made a fancy dinner, ready at dinner time , and everyone ate it and had seconds. I made our favorite French bread and it turned out... Then I made fancy chicken and wild rice soup sans cream and it turned out yummy. There was zero crying during any stage of prep. Including on my behalf during the onion bit. Also everyone, even Korrali, loved the soup. Truth be told, I knew she would like it,because she snuck a taste of the chicken broth while it was chilling in the fridge and said "hmmmm that's good!". Which was further proof she had been bodysnatched because the real her dislikes meat and anything even pretending to have meatish geneology.
My real children returned the next day, with a vengeance, but one day was all i really needed to hold me for,a week or so. Thanks little Gray friends! Bon apetit!

Bearded lady

Korrali loves to stamp. She also loves to think outside the box. Up until now, she has contained herself to stamping herself with cute little pictures. This time she cut out the middle man. On her face. And my face (not pictured).
The phrase 'washable' on the ink is rather loosely defined, and she looked like a five o'clock shadow for a few days. Tehehe... Mine was light and came off easily, thank goodness.

Sensory snow

Korrali got a sensory table for her birthday, and she uses it almost every day for several hours. The weather has been cold, so it lives inside right now. Today it slushed all day and we brought some inside to play with. The blue is Gatorade and there is a little agave in there too (in retrospect this would be a fun cinco de mayo activity what with the blue agave and ice.. Just need a lime and salt hahaha... )

It got a little messy because I don't watch her very closely when she sensory plays but she loved it- especially since she is just getting over a cold so we didn't want to play in the snow.

When mommy helps clean up toys...

Oops I think I put away one too many....
