So, I need your 2 cents. I've asked a few new-born related questions, and of course, plan on doing my own research etc. I have found, however, that nothing quite beats a personal review. Or multiple personal reviews. Thus, I crave your advice you wonderful mommies you. And wonderful daddies too!
I apologize in advance for the infantile phrasing.
Do Dr. Brown's baby bottles deserve bundles of boasts?
Or are other options an obvious advantage?
How much swaddle should a sleep sack give, if a sleep sack keeps back wiggle?
Should newborns have their 2nd amendment rights - the right to Bare Arms?
Or is it safer, and give more restful sleep, if we control those baby guns?
Is a Boppie the way to go for a little somethin' extra in the nursing department, if you know what I mean, or is the other brand really my new Brestfriend?
(Do you daddies out there have a preference for arm-rest during those bottle-feeding sessions?)

All those things are new and so an "old" mom, I have no sense or cents, for that matter, on the subject...but I sure do love you!
Swaddling should cover arms. Todd had one with Velcro that worked well but I think he used it too long. It is most helpful those first 2-3 months. I would say don't buy too many bottles till you meet the baby. She may have strong preferences re the best ones. Find a boppie you can borrow and see if you like it that much more than a regular pillow. Now you see how cheap I am.
I liked my velcro swaddler and kept the arms as tight as I could. I think it was like $7 at walmart and helped with J's sleeping.
I am too tall and chesty for the boppy to fit me right so I preferred a pillow folded in half. But it is nice to prop the baby up in.
I used all kinds of bottles and J refused them all. Sara (todd's wife) swore by the Dr. Brown's for Nora's reflux. I don't think I could stand all the parts she had to clean for each one. If you find a pump you like, I'd get a couple bottles that fit it and then try others as you need to for your baby's habits. If they have no problems with the cheap kind, don't bother with the fancy. You may end up breastfeeding so much that you don't need more than a couple.
P.S. I found skinny jeans at Ross for $14 so Chicago should expand your wardrobe! And my shoulder misses you lots, enough that I actually scheduled a massage.
I had Dr. Brown bottles and Avent; Ali seemed to eat better with the Dr. Brown but Logan and Eli didn't seem to care to I used the others with them. I still have them if you want to borrow some Dr. Browns for a bit to see if they're worth the investment for baby girl.
I hated the boppy. I bought a recliner for my nursery in lue of a traditional rocker and found the arm rests on them to be just fine without any pillow.
We just swaddled with regular blankets; you can get them really tight with practice. My babies seemed to love that for about a month or two (not as long as other babies, or so I've heard) and then we loved the sleep sacks.
The moral of the story is that you will find what works for you and baby with time, and then that won't work for any other babies who come later--they'll want something different:) But I know that this baby girl is going to want her Aunty Katie to come love on her lots and lots. And I can!
You are witty, smart, and too cute! It's so overwhelming, isn't it? My best advice is to borrow! Anything you can, borrow and then decide if it's something your baby likes. Ellie didn't love swaddling, Ben does, but I just use a blanket. I borrowed a boppy and found I didn't use it to nurse, but to hold the baby on the couch, if that makes sense. I ended up buying one because I found it used. My daughter used dollar bottles but I hear some babies won't use them. My babies love pacifiers, but others don't. So, with that, do whatever you want, have a baby shower, and only buy something if you want it. Just so you know, all you really need is a carseat and something for them to sleep in. So far Ben doesn't sleep in his crib, but sleeps in this buzzy chair I got as a gift. There are too many variables, so just go with the flow and figure it out along the way. Good luck!
Dr Brown's bottles are amazing if you have a baby that is hard to feed or has reflux but they do have a lot of parts and I don't know if they're worth it unless you discover your new little bundle is picky. I think every question you asked really does depend on the baby and the momma. I swear by swaddling with Liam but who knows what this next little guy will like. As for the boppie I have no idea since I never nursed. Good Luck! And I'd go with Aunt Jeanene's advice and try and borrow to figure out what you like.
Bottles-wait til you have the baby, often babies prefer a certain type and you wouldn't want to have spent a ton of money of ones they hate. so maybe buy 1 each of a couple of different kinds. we have dr brown, some avent and some adiri. But if your baby does have reflux, i'd recommend seeing a ciropractor, works magic! literally.
boppy-i used one for malachi and vili and loved it, but didn't love it for lani, but they're not that expensive, and work really well for putting kids in to nap, (they feel like they're being held).
swaddling-the sleeping sacks are more for when babies are little bigger and can kick off blankets. swaddling when they're little is to stop their startling reflex waking them up. i bought some from walmart, george brand, that are flanelet (sp?) material, but bigger then most blankets are, so were good to use for a long time.
chair-we bought a lazy boy recliner, looooooooove it. its big and soft and has big arm rests and after you're done using it for the baby, it becomes the most coveted chair in your living room :)
I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!
We love the playtex bottles. You can change the liners and don't have to worry about stinky bottles. Also, since they use liners you can push out all the air after you shake it up. It really cut down on air bubbles in the tummy for my girls.
Brooklyn LOVED being swaddled. We swaddled her until she was almost one. However, Kelsee hated being swaddled. We discovered at about a week that she would just scream until she got her arms free. We never owned an actual swaddler though, we always used a blanket. We swaddled Brooklyn fairly tight since she didn't like her arms coming free. Since we didn't swaddle Kelsee's arms, we still wrapped her fairly tight so the blanket wouldn't come unwrapped during the night as she moved.
As for the boppies, I think it's really personal preference. I didn't like using one to nurse at all. It was nice for setting the girls in once they were a bit bigger and Brooklyn and Drew used it to hold the baby. I loved just putting a pillow under my arm to help hold the baby. I felt the boppie propped them up too high and it was not very comfortable for me. Like I said though, just try it out and you'll find what works the best for you. You two are going to be amazing parents!
I had a hard time with a boppy. Probably because of my frame size, I couldn't get it to sit right. A pillow works just as good. As for bottles... good luck with that. Joey had this free one that came in the mail. I would love to try Dr. Brown's on the next one, whenever that is. But, I agree with Sarah! For fussy babies..... chiropractor! I haven't done it, but I know it to work wonders. Good luck! So excited for you guys!
