Cheese, Gromit! Cheese!

My husband and I have a tradition - stolen from the BYUH Science Department, who got it from the Head of the Science Department. (Yes, this did require that we spent enough time hanging out in the Science Dept front office to learn its particulars).
Every Christmas/New Years we buy a variety of special cheeses, some sort of meat, and crackers or another bready base. And then we sample them, savor them, and scarf them.
(The Dept head just did exotic cheeses from far off magical lands, so we can claim some sort of originality!)

This year's selection taught me some things:

1. Cutco knives are best for cutting cheese (hah hah)

2. Little Toasts are better than big crackers - even if the cheese book encouraged whole-grains
(They're about 1 in by 1 in and are not only super cute, they're also delicious and slightly salty. This makes them go best with Edam and other strong Gouda-style cheeses.)

3. Savory meat is better with Edam, and Irish Gouda, and Smoked Dutch Gouda than sweet. The sweet we bought is yummy on its own though.

4. Smoked Dutch Gouda is delicious - try it, you'll like it.

5. Some things in life are worth lactose-intolerant bloating.

6. I always knew there was a reason I connected with Wallace and Gromit - I think I too could conceivably go to the moon for cheese if this world ran out.
