First dentist appointment

Korrali had her first dentist appointment, and first cavity. We saw the cavity and so moved up her appointment to early morning Saturday, which just happened to be  during a spring snowstorm. It was an adventure! I can't think of a better first appointment for her- she was excited and happy and I think the snow storm helped distract from any nervousness she may have had. Then the staff explained everything to her and was so sweet.. Plus she made out like a bandit in praise and prizes from the visit.. She is excited to go back to get the cavity filled. And to brush and floss with the special ones they gave her. Phew! I'm relieved too. But seriously, dental?? ... she really is growing up.

C is for camping

What does a kinesthetic learner + the alphabet + a sunny day + plus a jammy day - a sick mama = ?
Patio camping to learn about the letter c.

We even had camping food... Which was waay too  much sugar for my conscience but just about right for Korrali's sense of adventure.

Claire is looking at Korrali here, which is so typical of the two! They are friends already and no one gets Claire to smile faster or more enthusiastically than Korrali.

So long friend

After nearly 20 years the plate I made as a child broke. Its probably a miracle it lasted this long, but I still feel like the dishwasher-toddler combination pile drive smashed a few childhood memories to prices. The Ty moose has my same birthday, and the same love of chocolate that I do. Goodbye small Lianna!
I also feel a little liberated because now I am one step closer to buying new plates.
Motherhood is like chocolate and is sometimes bittersweet, but always worthwhile!

And super wiggly! We sure love this peaceful, loving girl. Just like Korrali, she is growing right along with typical clothing sizes. She also vomits a lot- unsure if she gets car sick or just has a sensitive gag reflex but she is sure cute enough to make up for it!

Toilet Talk (no photos)

One of the things I appreciate most about parenthood is that some of the most poignant epiphanies can happen during the most mundane circumstances. Bed time is often the time for us.
A few weeks ago, Korrali was being especially silly at our bedtime song and asked for a song about eyes, then a song about family (pointing to the photos on her wall).  I took advantage and sang Families can be Together Forever. Because of her penchant for questions, and love of putting off bed time, we launched into a mini discussion about eternal family and the atonement.
It made me all glowy feeling inside.
Fast forward a few weeks, weeks full of back and forth about reverent prayers and wanting to play instead of scriptures etc.. The normal mode of life here.
Then at bed time potty Korrali was having a rather unpleasant conversation with the imaginary version of a real acquantaintance (her imaginary friends are all real people whom she loves usually). I decided I should intervene.. So I asked who she was talking to and she said the name of a girl in her nursery class whose mother passed away last year, and who misses her terribly and often has hard moments because of it.
Then we talked about having her over to play and Korrali asked about her mom. I told her she was with heavenly father - Korrali understands quite a bit about death after both our dog and a close close family friend passed   away last year. Then this happened:
K: she's dead, but she will come back.
Me: yes, but not for a long time. She misses her a lot.
K: yes, but heavenly father- her mommy- he made it so she can come back one day. (singing) I have a family here on Earth, they are so good to me!

I don't think I can take credit, but I'm just so glad I was there to hear her mind putting things together with such unshaken belief.
